Country Full Name: State of Israel

Flag: The flag of The State of Israel includes two blue stripes on white background with a Shield (Star) of David (in Hebrew: Magen David) in the center. It was inspired by the TALIT (the prayer shawl with blue stripes worn by Jews during prayer) s a symbol. The Star of David is a common symbol of the People of Israel from Biblical times.

Population: Approximately 7,000,000

Religion: The state of Israel was founded in order for the Jews to have a "home". However, all religioous practitioners are welcome and live freely according to their beliefs. The three main religions are: Judaism, Christianity and islam.

Holidays: Most holidays in Israel are celebrated according to the Jewish calendar(Lunar), and therefore international calendar dates of holidays vary from one year to the next. (see holidays list)

Currency: New Israeli Shekel (NIS), Symbol: ₪

One Shekel is divided into 100 Agoroth. Coins come in 5, 10 and 50 Agoroth , and 1, 2, 5 and 10 Shekels. Notes come in 20, 50, 100 and 200 Shekels.

Languages: Hebrew and Arabic are the two official languages in Israel. However, English is spoken by most of the population as well as numerous other languages spoken by Israelis who immigrated from all around the globe.

Time Difference: GMT/UTC +2.  From April till September Israel changes to daylight saving time and the time difference becomes +3 (exact dates are determined each year according to Jewish calendar).
